This
page discribes the configuration of the APRS aplication UI-View
and UI-View32.
In
the Comms Setup the modems, TNCs etc. are configured.
- Go "Setup" --> "Comms Setup"

In the
Comms Setup window you must select
- the Baud Rate between COM Port and TNC/modem
- the Com Port where the TNC/modem is connected
- the hostmode:
- select Hostmode none if you have a Hostmode TNC.
- select KISS if you have a TNC2, TNC3S, TM-D700 E,
TH-D7 E etc...
- select AGW if you want to run UI-View
with AGWPE to use a Soundcard, BayCom (PC-COM) modem, etc
note: first you must start AGWPE,
then run UI-View.
If you
have selected everything, check it and click on "OK".
- Go
"Setup" -> "Station Setup".
-
In the Station Setup you must enter your callsign, your Longitude
and Latitude, etc.
- Important part: Unproto address
The format is: Destination,Digi1,Digi2,Digi3-7
Example: APSAAR,WIDE,WIDE,WIDE2-2
AP**** means: The packet's destination is APRS, short AP.
The Stars should be
replaced by the letters of your Country. APSAAR means: APRS
in the Saarland.
APRLP means APRS in Rheinland-Pfalz, APRSHH means APRS in
the Hansestadt Hamburg and so on...
WIDE means: The next APRS-Digipeater with good QTH will digipeat
your Packet and replace
the WIDE with it's Callsign*, e.g. DO7VLR>APSAAR,WIDE -->
DO7VLR>APSAAR,DB0VI-2*
The "WIDE,WIDE" means: After the first WIDE-Digipaeter
has digipeated your packet, the next will
do so and so on.
WIDE2-2
is the same as WIDE,WIDE but shorter. The Digipeater wich receives
a packet:
DO7VLR>APSAAR,WIDE2-2 will send it out like this: DO7VLR>APSAAR,WIDE2-1
. It will not include it's
Callsign. If you want the Digi to include it's callsign, use
TRACE2-2 instaed of WIDE2-2.
Note: Keep your packet path short. DO NOT use
something like this:
AP****,WIDE,WIDE,WIDE,WIDE7-7,TRACE7-7 !!! It will cause chaos
on the frequency!
A Path like AP****,WIDE,WIDE,WIDE2-2 is OK for most regions.
Note: AP**** must ALWAYS be at the very beginning of
the Unproto address !
- Beacon
comment: Your name, QTH, other info
Beacon interval
- Fixed: This is the interval your beacon comment with position
is sent out with the path in
Unproto address. 20 or 30 minutes is more than OK.
- Internet: The interval to send the beacon to the connected Internet
Server.
- Symbol: Here you can choose a symbol. For a fixed station a home
is OK.
- Add UI-View Tag: please activiate this option.
- Compressed beacon: please DO NOT activate this option.
It can lead to an incorrect position!
The other options can be left by default.
Check everything and click on "OK" to save and leave the
Station Setup.
Here
you can enter a second Beacon comment. E.g. Internet/Packet-Radio
address, E-Mail-Adress etc...
You can also select "Send best DX" to send out information
about the DX station heard directly.
Here
you can enter Information about your Station, Hardware, QTH etc....
In
the Digipeater Setup you can set up your Station for Digipeating.
Please use this option with caution!
Not ervery Station needs to act as an WIDE-Digi. But setting up
your Station as RELAY-Digi can be
useful for mobile Stations which are moving in your area.
RELAY-Digi setup:
- Enable Digi: X
- UI only: X
- Alias substitution: X
- TRACEn-n: NO X
- WIDEn-n: NO X
- Alias(es): YOURCALL,YOURCALL-3,RELAY
- Sub Alias: YOURCALL-3
- Dupe secs: 9

Check
everything and click on "OK" to save and leave the Digipeater
Setup.
- Unproto
address: AP****, as discribed in the Station Setup section.
- Enable UI-View(32) extensions: X
- other options can be left by default

Leave
and save with click on "OK".
These
are the main configuration settings. You will discover the meaning
of the other Menus during the usage of UI-View. Do also have a look
at the Help. It is very detailed and describes every menu and its
meaning.
Have a lot of fun...
